Foundry are an award winning team of expert lighting design consultants who deliver creativity, innovation and passion to every project we work on. Based in London, we design lighting schemes for a range of sectors. Our portfolio spans worldwide projects including hospitality, residential and retail.

Our designers represent a diverse range of backgrounds and career paths, including architecture, product design, electrical engineering and theatre. This rich mix enables us to deliver outstanding levels of creativity and design innovation, underpinned by technical excellence.

How We Work

We work closely with architects, interior designers and project managers to provide a seamless integration of lighting into the visual environment.

By offering a bespoke and personalised service to each project, we can ensure that the lighting element suits the needs of that space. This also means the lighting becomes a collaborative and balanced part of the overall design.

As well as creating overall lighting schemes, we also have a wealth of experience in designing bespoke light fittings. This provides our clients with a unique, distinctive element to their project.

Foundry are independent from all lighting manufacturers. This allows us to design schemes and specify products for their suitability to a specific project and its requirements, without being bound to only a narrow range of solutions.

Our Process

Brief

This is where we gain an understanding of the project. Developing the lighting brief with our clients is an essential part of our process which explores the role that light and darkness can play.

Concept

Each of our concepts carefully consider the image, function and the practical considerations of cost, buildability and ease of maintenance of every project’s unique requirements.

Collaboration

We work closely with the client and their design team to find concepts and solutions which enhance the overall project. Workshops and communication are essential part of this process.

Communication

We work in a variety of ways to communicate our designs and ideas with our clients. We use words, drawings, sketches, mood boards, models and cgi’s to emphasise our design approach and methodology.

Design Development

Design development expands our conceptual ideas into a workable and buildable design. Early dialogue with the design, construction and maintenance teams provides a considered integration of light into the overall project.

Production

Completion of the drawing and technical specification packages which are then incorporated into construction documentation.

Construction

We support the construction team, attend site and to help resolve any co-ordination and installation issues.

Completion

Through snagging, assisting with commissioning, programming and focusing of the lighting systems we ensure the delivery of the lighting scheme.

What We Offer

Our lighting design services are based around a complete and full understanding of each project’s requirements. We then deliver innovative, visually stimulating and technical excellent lighting solutions.

Our services carry through from project inception to completion and we can be engaged on either a “Fee” or “Design + Supply” basis. Each project is approached on an entirely individual basis best suited to fulfilling the brief.
