The Medical Research Council, London Institute of Medical Sciences is a 120,000sq/ft biomedical research facility located on the Hammersmith Hospital Campus.

Foundry were engage to provide a dynamic lighting solution to the building facade which we achieved by backlighting the perforated cladding panels to add intrigue and drama to the facade.  At the entrance we created a concealed shadow gap to gently wash the wall and discreet downlights illuminate the pathway.

Inside, the lighting design reinforces our considered approach by continuing discreet shadow gaps to light vertical surfaces, adjustable spotlights create pools of local illumination where required and the oversized circular pendant provide a focal point in the space.

The final element in our scope was the 9 storey feature stair, with lighting carefully integrated into the handrail providing a crisp lit effect from top to bottom.
